Strategic Purchasing

More Than Just Procurement

Conductix-Wampfler’s Strategic Purchasing department sets the course for a reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply chain. By monitoring international markets, developing long-term purchasing strategies, and building trusting relationships with suppliers, the department plays a key role in ensuring the company’s competitiveness and enabling innovation.

The responsibilities are diverse: international markets are analyzed, opportunities and risks are assessed, and procurement strategies are developed and implemented. In addition, negotiations are conducted with suppliers, projects are managed, and close partnerships are established. Through daily collaboration with R&D, production, quality assurance, logistics, and international suppliers, solutions are developed that ensure a stable and future-proof supply chain.

This involves far more than simply purchasing materials. The department combines strategic thinking with business acumen, negotiation skills, and international collaboration. Decisions made here have a direct impact on quality, innovation, supply security, and the company’s long-term success.

What makes working in purchasing particularly exciting is the combination of responsibility, creative freedom, and global collaboration. If you enjoy analytical thinking, building relationships, and making strategic decisions that have a lasting impact, you’ll find a varied and forward-looking career here.

Tactical Purchasing

The Interface That Keeps Everything Moving

Conductix-Wampfler’s Tactical Purchasing department ensures that plans are translated into concrete action. The department coordinates orders, monitors delivery dates, and keeps track of material flows. This ensures that the right materials are available at the right time and in the right place—a crucial foundation for a smooth production process.

The tasks are varied and heavily focused on communication, organization, and quick decision-making. Delivery dates are coordinated with suppliers, delays are addressed, and solutions are found so that orders can be reliably fulfilled. At the same time, Tactical Purchasing works closely with Production, Warehousing, Logistics, Quality Management, Project Management, and Order Processing to ensure that processes mesh seamlessly.

This goes far beyond mere order processing. Price and quantity variances, invoice verification, complaints, and returns are also part of the job. Causes are analyzed, solutions are coordinated, and transparency is established throughout the supply chain. Through continuous monitoring of inventory levels and demand, supply security remains a top priority at all times.

What makes tactical purchasing particularly exciting is the combination of supplier contact, cross-functional collaboration, and responsibility for the day-to-day supply of materials. If you have strong organizational skills, enjoy communicating, and can keep a clear head even in dynamic situations, you’ll find a versatile and forward-looking career here.
